Terms and Conditions for Grant Funding
The Trust is open to applications from individuals and institutions who are broadly able to meet the Charitable Objectives of the Richard Stoker Trust (‘the Trust’) as described in its constitution, namely:
To advance the education of the public in, and the appreciation of, the life and works of the composer Richard Stoker, in particular by promoting, organising, supporting and encouraging:
- public performances and recordings of his works;
- other educational and cultural activities relevant to the study and appreciation of his music; and,
- the safeguarding of his archive of musical manuscripts both published and handwritten, comprising books, recorded material, artworks and other relevant items.
Applying for Grants
- All applications for funding must adhere to the format described on the ‘Applying for Funding’ page on the Richard Stoker Trust website: www.richardstokertrust.org
- On occasion, the Trust may invite applications for funding from individuals and institutions, in which case applications should follow the format laid out in the invitation.
- Grant applications should include the name of individuals who possess a level of musical knowledge/experience commensurate with the requirements of the project for which they are applying for funds.
- Applicants should be able to demonstrate a successful track record in delivering projects similar to that for which they are applying for funding, whether it be recording, performance, workshops, master classes or any other activity which involves the use of Richard Stoker’s music.
- Applicants agree to update the Trust during the application process if there are significant changes to their artistic, or financial plans, or to their contact details.
- The Trust is unable to make retrospective grants, or support projects after they have been delivered or
Decision Making Process
- The Trustees will favour grant applications which:
- Clearly identify the piece or pieces of Richard Stoker’s music which they propose to use
- Give a clear indication of how Richard Stoker’s music will be used.
- Give a clear description of how, alongside the performance, recording or other use of his music, the applicant will promote the name and work of Richard Stoker.
- In the case of large applications for complex projects, provide a breakdown of how the funds applied for will be allocated between different aspects of the project
- The Trust aims to communicate decisions about grant applications within three months of an application being submitted
- The Trustees’ deliberations are confidential and the Trust is not able to provide applicants with detailed feedback.
- The decision of the Board of Trustees is final. The Board reserves the right to request additional information or documentation, including references, should it be deemed necessary, before making its decision.
Data Protection
- By applying for a grant, you consent to the Trust processing your personal data for the purposes of administering the grant.
- Any personal data made available to us will only be used for the purpose of adjudicating and processing your grant application, and communicating with you.
- We will never sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
- The Trust may publish summary details of awarded grants (including recipient name, project title, and funding amount) on its website or in its annual report, and in applying you implicitly provide consent to be publicly associated with the Trust.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be over the age of 18 and ordinarily resident in the UK. Beneficiaries of the award need not satisfy these conditions.
- Grants are restricted to direct project costs. Funds are awarded exclusively to support specific projects that substantially incorporate the music of Richard Stoker, or the promotion of his name, and his works.
- The Board of Trustees reserves the right to place additional restrictions on the use of funds e.g. identifying a deadline within which the project must have been brought to completion.
Payment
- Grants awarded will only be paid into a UK bank account demonstrably connected to the individual or institution successfully making a grant application
- Payment will only be made on receipt of an invoice from the grant recipient.
- Any money unspent at the end of the project must be returned to the Trust. If the project generates funds beyond the lifetime of the Trust, the Trust will identify how it is to be spent (e.g. donated to another charity of its choice).
- Payments may be made periodically in instalments, to be determined on an individual basis. The Board of Trustees reserves the right to withdraw an award and cease making payments if it considers progress to have been insufficient or unsatisfactory, or if the project has deviated substantially from that originally proposed.
- The Trust should be suitably acknowledged on any output from the project (performance, recording, publications, programmes etc.) and any public appearance associated with the project (recital, workshop, lecture etc). This should include the Trust’s full name and if appropriate, also the logo, which is available on request.
- Where grants are made to institutions for projects involving more than one individual, the recipient agrees to inform those individuals of the source of the funds, and they should be encouraged to promote the name of Richard Stoker, where possible.
- All online and social media publicity or promotion in respect of projects supported by the Trust should include the name of Trust and mention its role as funder.
Reporting
- Before a grant is made, the Trust will set out a schedule of reporting to which the grant recipient must adhere.
- The Trust reserves the right to request additional progress reports and financial updates at any time before completion of the project.
- Should the project be running behind schedule, the grant recipient should contact the Trust to request an extension. Reasonable extensions will normally be granted.
Compliance
- Grant recipients must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to data protection and anti-bribery.
- Where grant recipients are using funds awarded by the Trust for projects involving children they must have adequate safeguarding procedures in place.
- Funds provided by the Trust must not be used to fund illegal activity or for purposes of commercial exploitation.
- Grant recipients and their projects should do nothing which could bring the Trust or the name of Richard Stoker and/or his associates (including friends, family members and Trustees) into disrepute.
- Potential conflicts of interest should be declared to the Trust as they arise.
- Any copyrights or intellectual property rights that are created as a result of grants awarded will be negotiated with the Trust on an individual basis.
- The Trust reserves the right to stipulate additional limitations or restrictions on the use of the funds awarded.
- Failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions, and with the reasonable requests of the Trust and its board of Trustees, may result in the termination of the award and/or the recovery of funds.
